The latest Alfa Romeo F1 car doubles the amount of metal AM components.

The 2021 Alfa Romeo F1 race car, the C41, takes to the track with 304 additively manufactured metal parts, more than doubling the number from 2020’s C39 race car.

22% of the 304 parts are made from Ti6Al4V grade23, 36% from Scalmalloy, 40% from AlSi10Mg and 2% in stainless steel. The total combined weight of those parts is approximately 14.86 kg. Cost savings of up to 90% per part, compared with traditionally manufactured parts, represent a great benefit for Sauber Motorsport AG, the Swiss company that manages and operates the Alfa Romeo Racing team, allowing to take a significant step forward in compliance with the budget limits required by the FIA.
